Christina Rose Brown

She/Her

Christina Rose Brown is an Artist, Author and Art Educator based in London. Her works focuses predominantly on textiles, in particular hand embroidery. Her work explores themes of identity, the female body, motherhood and the universal/personal lived experience. She incorporates abstract gestural painting with delicate stitches line drawings and often use fabrics hand-stained with tea. She is interested in using found fabrics that are imbued with their own histories.

She has exhibited regularly in London, and organised workshops and events such as family events for the Tate Modern, The British Museum and Foundling Museum and London Gallery Weekend, and workshops for homeless young people and/or those who have experienced trauma for the charities such as SPEAR and GriefCards.

As an author Christina has published two books for Hoxton Mini Press, she has a particular interest in Arts, Culture and Mental Health and Wellness.

Christina graduated in 2009 from Kingston University with a First Class Fine Art Degree. Christina completed her PGCE at The Institute of Education UCL. Following this, she also studied for an MA in Art and Design in Education, finishing with a distinction.

Teaching:

Since qualifying as a teacher in 2014, Christina has worked as an Art Teacher consistently in London schools at both primary and secondary level.
She currently works part time in an inner-city secondary school specialising in GCSE and A Level Art and Design. She is a visiting artist educator and creative consultant for a number of mainstream and SEND schools.
